The Kinara
is known as the foundation for which the Kwanzaa (NGUZO SABA) principles are built upon. Used as the central symbol of the African American holiday Kwanzaa, the Kinara holds seven candles (Mishumaa Saba), one candle lit each day to
commemorate one of seven principles that are observed during the celebration of Kwanzaa. It's symbolic of the roots of continental African people. Thus a Kinara could
be described as a man or woman who teaches and practices the principles of Kwanzaa to their children, relatives and all people.
The seven candles (Mishumaa Saba) are included.
